Sorry for writing in English, as my German is not the best!
Greetings,
I have found and ordered a donor KAS transmission for my Audi. It turns out that B3(Typ 8A) automatics are a little bit harder to find, as most people only had only ones from B2(Typ 81/85), but all of them had a higher gear ratio = higher revs and increased fuel consumption. The only compatible transmission from the B2 is with the code KAC (same gear ratio as in the B3), only the speed sensor is diffirent.
My KAU differential has sadly destroyed itself due to oil leaking into ATF part every time it was filled back up. It's now to the point that I can't get it to shift into 3rd gear (likely damaged regulator) and metal to metal sounds are heard when it shifts very late into 2nd gear. Vibrations also occur when braking from 50km/h and feels like it's not downshifting.
My question is: how (un)likely it's possible to damage the planetary gearbox that is full of 3L of ATF and diff oil mixed in? I do not really want to touch that part, as it's not really something I'm confident dissasembling, even with a repair manual. All I could do is swap it with a donor one.
I will update you everyone next week when I recieve and start disassembling the gearbox.
